This was the big house where Dhirubhai's parents used to rent two tiny rooms. After Dhirubhai Ambani became very rich, he bought the whole house - bollywood style! 
And now that he is no more, they have converted it into a photo-museum of his life. And they charge Rs 2 for entry! 
The only nice beach we saw in Gujarat - the Madhavpura beach. 
But it was strangely empty. 
We made our way to Porbunder to see Mahatma Gandhi's birthplace - and ended up at this dilapidated square, with no signages at all to point the way to Gandhiji's birthplace. 
We asked the policeman for directions, and he told us that it is just a stone throw away. We crossed under this most decrepit and dangerous-looking arch...
...and walked down this unprepossessing street...
And there it was! 
 This was the residence of the Gandhi clan - hereditary Prime Ministers of Porbunder state
...now taken over by the state to build this sad memorial to Gandhi

Apparently this was the exact place where birth happened...X marks the spot!

The less said, seen or heard about this uninspiring memorial the better. 
The Gujarat government should be ashamed of itself. Gandhi deserves better.
