We were gluttons for punishment, so we couldn't bear it that the trek was over and it was time to return. So we suddenly changed our minds and decided to cross the fearsome Cho La pass and go to a village called Gokyo on the other side of the mountains, which was famous for beautiful blue glacial lakes.
Cho la pass was covered in snow on one side and had a fearsome steep drop and a bouldery dangerous descent on the other - but like the fools we were, we rushed in where angels feared to tread - with torn sneakers and no equipment.
But our patron saint of idiots is hard working, and he saved us!
Gokyo! WOO HOO!
