Well, this was it! This was the day! We had reached Kala Patthar - overlooking Everest base camp! 
That black topped mountain is Everest - or Sagarmatha, if you want to use the official Nepali name. The massive Khumbu glacier flows below it and you can see the companion peak of Nuptse by Everest's side. 

What a feeling! WOO HOO! 

WE HAD DONE IT! WE WERE AT EVEREST BASE CAMP!
