Another glorious day of riding in the Spiti valley
Today our goal was the ancient monastery of Tabo and the Pin valley.
But first we went to fantastic mountain monastery of Dhankar, which is located at the confluence of the Pin and Spiti rivers. The old monastery is on top of what is a mountain of dried mud - and the views from there are magnificent
A view of the confluence of the Pin and Spiti and the Dhankar monastery. What a sight!
Whoa! What a sight!
We ride down to the river for a closer look
We cross over the bridge over the Spiti and ride along the Pin river. Our aim is to stay in Pin valley in the village of Mud.
But our hopes are cruelly dashed! We see mud alright - but not the village of mud - actual mud. There has been some really weird effulgence of stinking prehistoric mud onto the road and the road is totally blocked. Just see what it has done to the river.
nothing can be done - so we turn back and ride towards Tabo and Kaza
These sand sculptures are really cool! Like an army of giants turned to stone by a sorcerer!
Because of this, we have reached Kaza extremely early! It is still early afternoon.
We fill up at 'The Worlds Highest Petrol Pump'

And decide to ride to Losar. It turned out to be not a very intelligent decision, as it became dark and cold and we rode in utter darkness in the wild for kilometers and kilometers
