I was never into motorcycles as a kid or even as a young adult. I can tell you the exact time I fell in love with the idea of biking - It was during our backpacking trip of Spiti with Bharathi
There were a lot of Bullet groups on that road - and the sight of those bikes put me in an agony of lust!
I was lucky enough to get a lift on a bike with a kindly Swiss group - and I was hooked!

Even so, I dithered for many years until Bharathi cut the Gordian knot by buying me a bike one day! I learnt to ride on that brand new bike - and after a long time, got the guts to do a couple of solo rides - to Sula wineyards at Nasik, and to the Tapola lake at Mahabaleshwar
But my real biking started after I joined the Royal Enfield Tour of NH17
That week-plus ride was a wonderful life-changing experience!
and that was where I first met 'Bawa' - Delzad Karani
A fellow rider on the NH17 was so impressed with the idea of touring that he started his own company - Konkan Moto tours - and me and Delzad were regular customers. It was great fun - we explored the Konkan, did some amazing riding and made a lot of new friends.
It was after this that I did a duo ride to Goa with a childhood friend. Just the two of us - what fun!
In the KMT rides, we met a handsome bearded dude - Mr Aditya Dhurandar!
Me, Adi and Delzad became the 'Amigos' and had a number of riding adventures across India.
And my first solo long ride was when I rode from Goa to Mangalore - I visited Murdeshwar, Mookambika, Gokarna, Udipi and Mangalore! What a blast it was. Do read about it in detail in 'Three Men Ride South'. See the photos here
