Vijaydurg! The most powerful sea fortress of the Maratha navy! But this was later
By sheer coincidence, I overheard a local guy talk about a little known seafort called Poornagad - and we immediately went hunting for it. It was a task to find it - as even locals didn't know about it.
But it turned out to be an incredible place! There was no one there and we felt like the rulers of the fort. What a discovery.
Awe inspiring place
We finally made our way to Vijaydurg - which was the place I wanted to go to. (it finally turned out that I had actually been there earlier and didn't remember a thing about it! I could have sworn any kind of oath possible that this was the first time I had been there!)
What a huge and imposing fort! We got a most passionate guide who took us through it. What a huge effort it must have been to build this fort, and how important it must have been once. Now it is just a ruin with no value at all. Time really makes reality change.
We rode down the awesome Konkan coast and found a really cool resort for the night. While these places don't have the sophistication of Goa, they have an innocent untouched feel.
And as they are fairly difficult to get to, the beaches are pristine!
We carried on down the coast towards Goa
And finally made it! We were on the Tiracol ferry and the other end was Goa!
Goa is a kind of promised land for Indians, and so we were so happy to get here. We made our way to Arambol beach and found a nice beach shack to stay in
