What they don't teach you about Marketing.
Moving from college to working life is as different as swimming in the pool and swimming in the sea. The fundamental skills are the same, but life is a lot different.

Not too much of what you learn in B School is immediately applicable in working life. You are not going to be making marketing strategies and doing consumer segmentation on your first day. You are going to start at the bottom, surrounded by people who think that MBA's are arrogant sods and need to be taken down a peg or two. Your company may or may not invest in training and induction programs.

You need some practical inputs to get a running start.

That’s what this book is about.

A simple and practical guide to what you will actually need to know and do in your first year in marketing. Neither a textbook, nor management gyaan; it covers the gap between curriculum and real life.

Simple and easy to read, it is written like a novel or storybook, and tells you the story of a young management trainee as he joins a new organisation. Apart from learning about marketing, he gets shouted at by his boss, gets his legs pulled by his colleagues, meets friendly and unfriendly people, learns about life in general, and organisational life in particular; and has a lot of fun along the way.

I frequently wondered why there wasn’t a simple and explanatory book on this topic. After waiting for years for someone to write such a book, I decided to write it myself. And here it is.
